Providing Hope For The Least Of These
Do you know someone affected by the Opioid addiction crisis? Do you have a friend or relative who is an addict? Do you know someone who is dealing with this issue in their life? More than 200 people in the United States alone die every day from drug overdose. Over 2 million people every year visit the emergency room nationwide due to drug abuse and over 5000 every single day. Over 23 million people have illicit drug addiction or alcohol abuse problems in this country and only about 11.5% of them get the help they need. The Mantis Foundation helps more people every day to get help.
The Opioid addiction crisis is also a global pandemic that too few are talking about. The Mantis Foundation provides resources for education and successful rehabilitation for people affected by this awful circumstance. Sometimes it starts from the long term use of pain medication and other times it is a result of depression, abuse, or other life changing events that drive some to seek escape through drug use. Fentanyl is commonly found in heroin and other opioid products on the street making this even more lethal.
Trafficking involves transporting someone into a situation of exploitation. Globally there are between 20 and 40 million people in modern slavery today and so many more that we don't even know about. It's estimated that internationally, only about .04% survivors of human trafficking cases are discovered and most are never identified. Global profits exceed $150 billion/year. Many enslaved people are women and girls, but men and boys are not exempt and account for almost 30%. Over half the trafficking cases are children. Many of whom come from the foster care system. The Mantis Foundation provides education and resources to help reduce this problem through awareness.
In 2020 The Mantis Foundation expanded its mission to help provide resources and education to reduce or stop sex trafficking in the United States. Our financial resources support platforms that really make a difference right here in our own communities.
During the Covid 19 Pandemic, other countries, especially in 3rd world developing areas are locked down. In these countries, being locked down and unable to work means there is no provision for families. They don't have unemployment benefits or social services, EBT, or welfare benefits. They simply have no money to eat. This is a tragedy in our world and those of us who have resources can help reduce starvation by contributing our dollars to these areas to purchase and deliver food.
The Mantis Foundation was created to provide relief to many of those affected by extreme poverty conditions in Pune, India. We provide relief in the form of medical services for the poor, creation of medical clinics and educational platforms accessible to underprivileged families, as well as expand the rescue operation of many young girls living in unsafe situations.
Coronavirus in India is not like it is here in America. They don't have the same resources that we have so the main tool that they have to combat the virus is LOCKDOWN. One major hotspot for Covid 19 cases is in Pune, right in the center of our mission field. This area is completely locked down. No one is going to work. No one is traveling around. Everyone has to stay home.
India doesn't have a welfare system or unemployment where people have access to money if they don't work. This is posing a much deeper issue in that people are literally starving to death. Hunger now is the number one issue people are facing here. Also, many families are committing suicide because they can't provide for themselves.
Fortunately, Joseph and Vishranti Hiwale and their family are reaching out in their community. They are giving from the little that they have to feed as many other families as possible. Currently they are able to help feed about 25 families by providing rice and lentils for them. Inside every package sent out, Joseph puts a note with his phone number and a message of hope. He's offering to help them in any way they can.
The Mantis Foundation is helping by sending funds to buy more food and send it to more families. We don't know how long this virus will cripple the community but we are determined to make a difference. As aggravated we may get with all the issues going on here in America, we have to know that we are still living in huge abundance in comparison to the poorest people in the world.
Girls rescued from extreme poverty, sex trafficking, abuse, and other unsafe living conditions come to the girls home in Pune, India and receive love, food, clothing, education, and care. Currently there are about 35 girls living in the girls home and there are so many more that need our help.
- Girls Home of Pune support and expansion
- Create larger facility for housing and care of more girls rescued
- Create educational platforms like primary and secondary schools for education of rescued girls in the orphanage
Being a girl in India is not the same as it is here in the United States. They are treated poorly, disregarded and often neglected or abused. The Mantis Foundation provides support for them to be rescued from unsafe life situations so that they can live their lives to the fullest. At the girls home, there are many girls who are receiving love and care, education, clothing, and 3 meals a day because of the efforts of so many people who have a heart for these young girls and want to help. Are you one of those people? These are daughters, sisters, and cousins, just like ours. Consider supporting the girls home to continue to provide support and love.
If we can only reach the people where they are. There are many remote villages around the city of Pune where people are living in extreme poverty with no access to healthcare. Please support the Mobile Medical Unit as we seek to provide basic medical services to these people. This project requires the purchase of a large van capable of carrying medical supplies and staffing required to provide medical treatment to rural villages. This Mobile Medical Unit visits up to 3 villages daily and can get to all 60 rural villages each month. This provides much needed assistance for medical needs to those who otherwise may have never been able to see a doctor.
The Mantis Foundation seeks to purchase a large van capable of being stocked with medical supplies and medical staff to provide services to the poor in the rural communities surrounding Pune. We will drive to remote villages surrounding Pune to provide medical examinations, vitamins, and basic medical treatment for people who may have never seen a doctor in their life. This is a common issue in India due to extreme poverty and large population. Please support the Mobile Medical Project. Make a difference in the lives of many sick people who have no access to medical treatment.
